As the name suggests, fragrances can be assigned to specific families, i.e. to a group of similarly smelling aromas. FLOWERY

Many fragrances can be assigned to the fragrance family "flowery". Here notes like violet, jasmine, lily of the valley, rose, lilac, bergamot, hyacinth or tuberose play a typical role. If tangy fresh notes are added by leaves and grasses, one speaks of a "flowery-green" fragrance. "Flowery-fresh" becomes a fragrance when citrus notes and spring flowers come into play. CITRUS

Sizzling, tingling, fresh - "Citrus" speaks for itself. This fragrance family is derived from the tangy notes of bergamot, lemon, lime, mandarin, orange or grapefruit. For men, exclusive fragrances are created with fresh, light scents, predominantly citrus notes such as bergamot, lime, grapefruit and orange, refined with aromatic-spicy components. CHYPRE

In 1917 the famous perfumer François Coty developed a completely new fragrance composition based on a certain lichen species and other Mediterranean plants - "Chypre" was the name of his perfume and today serves as a collective term for a special family of fragrances characterised by fresh citrus head notes as well as Labdanum and Patchouli. FOUGÈRE

"Fougère Royale" - a perfume created in 1882 by the Houbigant fragrance house - gave rise to the introduction of a new family of fragrances. The original women's fragrance with notes based on lavender, oakmoss and the then newly discovered scent coumarin quickly became the popular basis for many masculine fragrance compositions with its Fougère chord.
